The power of gratitude can not be understated. It is a cornerstone of a successful recovery program. While there are many other important aspects, focused and persistent gratitude will greatly increase success rates.

Not only will gratitude give the patient a better chance of success, it will improve the overall experience. Gratitude creates a spiritual awareness and feeling of being connected with what is good in life. Happiness and contentedness throughout the day can be readily maintained with gratitude therapy.

What is involved in getting started with gratitude therapy?

If you are ready to practice daily gratitude therapy, you are going to need a quiet place to sit and write. Ask the people in your home to give you some quiet, uninterrupted time. Make certain that you have a comfortable place to sit and write.

Start with a moment of silence and deep breathing.

When embarking on a task such as gratitude therapy, deep breathing can help to quiet the mind in preparation. Relax the muscles of your body. Close your eyes. It can be people in your life who you love. It can be your health. Think about the things in the world that make you happy.
